The DICE team are hard at work supporting Battlefield 3. To date, we have implemented several server updates to improve stability and performance. Next week we are publishing a significant Battlefield 3 client update for the PC. Console patches take a bit longer due to the certification requirements for console content, but it will follow shortly after the PC update.
So what’s in the PC patch? You’ll see improved polish, stability, weapons balancing, squad control functionality, user interface enhancements, and several feature enhancements that address feedback the community has provided to date – plus we’re removing the so called “negative mouse acceleration” that some of you have experienced.
Regarding cheating and boosting, we continue to analyze data to identify and hold accountable (ban, wipe stats) players that cheat or boost. We’ve received questions about what to do when faced with unsportsmanlike conduct in Battlefield 3 – the best course of action is to click the warning sign next to their profile name in Battlelog, or head to the EA Help Desk and report your issue. These leads will enable us to follow up on the report.
We appreciate all the feedback. Keep it coming to help us with future improvements. Check back next week to confirm the patch launch date and the detailed fix list. Thanks for playing and sharing your feedback with us!

There was initially some confusion of how Back To Karkand would be played on servers, whether it would be part of the same rotation as regular maps, or perhaps as Bad Company 2 Vietnam. EA has now clarified the issue via Twitter, stating that Back To Karkand will be integrated into regular Battlefield 3, and will be part of the same map rotation. In other words, there’s no need to play on separate servers just for Back To Karkand. Back to Karkand will be released next month and will include 10 new weapons, 4 new maps and 3 new vehicles, plus a new game mode called Conquest Assault.
According to NPD, a very trusted source when it comes to sales numbers, Battlefield 3 sold just under 2 million copies in the United States for the month of October. The 2 million number may not sound impressive compared to EA’s figures of 5 million sold and10 million shipped, but remember that NPD only tracks data in the US, and that Battlefield 3 was launched in late October, with less than a week on the shelves. Here’s the top 10 list of best selling games in October:
It was recently revealed that the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 outsold both the PC and PS3 versions combined.
Battlefield 3 has quickly become the fastest-selling game in the history of Electronic Arts. The first-person military shooter sold 5 million copies in its first week, according to EA internal estimates. Previously, EA announced that it had shipped 10 million copies globally.
To put that in context with the competition, last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops had a first-week sales total of $650 million — divided by $60 a pop would be 10 million-plus copies.
